No one (except maybe Road Runner) was happy to hear that Warner Bros. had shelved “Coyote vs. Acme.” Thankfully, the film was saved from obscurity by Ketchup Entertainment. By some time in 2026, fans everywhere will get to see John Cena defend Acme in court against Wile E. Coyote and Will Forte.

When Will ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Release?

We don’t have a definitive release date for “Coyote vs. Acme” yet, but it is expected to hit theaters some time in 2026.

Who Is In ‘Coyote vs. Acme’?

Will Forte stars as Kevin Avery, Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer representing him in his case against Acme.

Opposite Forte is John Cena as Buddy Crane, Acme’s lawyer and Kevin’s old boss.

The film also stars Lana Condor (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”), P.J. Byrne (“A Complete Unknown”), Tone Bell (“The Flash”), and Martha Kelly (“Euphoria”).

What Is ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ About?

After years of trying and failing to catch his rival the Road Runner, and often using Acme products in his pursuit, Wile E. Coyote takes the company to court. Representing the coyote is down on his luck attorney Kevin Avery (Forte). Wile E. and Kevin strike up a friendship with each other while facing down the intimidating Acme lawyer Buddy Crane (Cena).

Why Didn’t Warner Bros. Release ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Earlier?

In 2022, Warner Bros. chose to shelve “Coyote vs. Acme” and included it as part of a $115 million impairment charge.

In March 2025, news broke that Ketchup Entertainment had negotiated a deal with Warner Bros. for global rights to the film. Ketchup had just successfully done the same thing with “The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.”

Gareth Westm CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, released a statement which said, “We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide. Coyote vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
