There’s more to the Town of Fountain Hills in the winter than beautiful weather and scenic desert views – it’s the season when our vibrant art scene comes alive, drawing residents and visitors into a celebration of creativity, culture, and community.
Our diverse schedule of art events kicks off with the weekly Art on the Avenue show; taking place every Wednesday, the show provides a unique outdoor gallery for Valley artists to display their one-of-a-kind pieces. More than 60 artists exhibit pottery, furniture, wall art, jewelry, fiber art, and more along the beautiful Avenue of the Fountains.
This month, the River of Time Museum and Exploration Center will honor two pivotal figures in our town’s art history—former Mayor Jerry Miles and his wife, Jackie Miles—with the Milestone Sculpture Art Tours. On Feb. 12 and 22, participants can join a guided walking tour exploring 150 incredible pieces from Fountain Hills’ renowned public art collection. Along the way, guests will learn fascinating stories about the artists, their techniques, and the meaning behind each work.
The performing arts also shine in Fountain Hills for guests of all ages. The Fountain Hills Theater is bringing beloved stories to life this season starting with “The Little Mermaid.” Dive under the sea with Ariel, Ursula, and Prince Eric in a musical adventure full of enchanting characters and unforgettable songs, running Thursdays through Sundays until Feb. 16.
From Feb. 28 to March 16, audiences can enjoy “Broadway Bound,” the story of brothers Eugene and Stanley Jerome, who are determined to become professional comedy writers. When the brothers use the trials and tribulations of their dysfunctional family as inspiration, the Jerome clan may never be the same.
The culmination of our art season kickoff takes place at the 49th annual Spring Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts from Feb. 21 to 23 on the Avenue of the Fountains. During the festival, known as one of the best attended shows in the Southwest attracting over 100,000 visitors annually, more than 400 global artists specializing in every medium exhibit their work. But art isn’t the only attraction at this event – food booths, a beer garden and comfortable seating areas are abundant throughout the venue. The festival also comes with its own soundtrack – live bands and musicians perform, creating an exceptional audio-visual experience for attendees.
Whether you’re a seasoned art collector or a budding enthusiast, Fountain Hills is teeming with opportunities to celebrate local artists, learn more about the history of art in our community and enjoy different events in our beautiful desert haven.
