BRISTOL, Tenn. (WCYB) — The creativity of students in Bristol Tennessee City Schools, set to be on display at a special event.
The 9th Annual Virginia Duff Fine Arts Festival is slated to take place on Thursday, February 29 at Tennessee Middle School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
It’s a districtwide arts extravaganza hosted by students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
It will feature a variety of visual arts as well as vocal and instrumental performances.
But who is Virginia Duff — and what role did she play in the district?
“This festival is named after her and she was one of the champions for arts in our community, she taught in our district at every single school for 51 years,” said Autumn Roe, an art teacher at Anderson Elementary School. “We have named this festival after her, and this is the 9th one that we have done — we just want to be able to honor her legacy through this.”
The district says not only is this an opportunity to experience a professional-grade art show — but visitors will also get to experience it in Bristol’s state-of-the-art middle school.
