Crook County after-school Eagle Readers program a success


The idea for the Eagle Reader program did not come from any big brainstorming session.

As Prineville Kiwanis Club member Wayne Looney recalls, it was an offhanded comment from former Crook County School District Superintendent Sara Johnson during a conversation between the two of them and Crook County Kids Club Director Ashely Thrasher. It came after several successful years of a summer school program, initially funded by Kiwanis and administered by the school district.
