San Francisco-based Cruise announced Thursday night that they are pausing all driverless car operations nationwide.
Earlier this week, the California Department of Motor Vehicles suspended Cruise’s driverless permits in the state amid safety concerns and allegations it misled state regulators.
The move impacts Cruise’s driverless car service in Austin and Phoenix.
In a statement, Cruise called it a “proactive pause” and it can examine its processes, systems and tools and reflect on how to earn back public trust.
Cruise plans to continue testing cars with human safety drivers at the wheel.
