OCT 10 – Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Justin Muturi, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and restoration in addressing climate change during a tree planting event at Maseno School in Kisumu West Constituency, commemorating Mazingira Day.
During the event, 3,000 seedlings were planted, supporting Kenya’s ambitious target of planting 15 billion trees by 2030 through efforts in afforestation, reforestation, and the protection of water catchment areas.
“As Kenyans, we must take it upon ourselves to plant trees not only for the present but for future generations. Every tree we plant today contributes to our target of 15 billion trees, which is key to safeguarding our environment and securing the future,” the CS stated.
Muturi was joined by several top government officials, including Principal Secretary for Public Service Amos Gathecha, Huduma Kenya CEO Ben Kai Chilumo, and NYS Deputy Commandant General Jamleck Chabari.
Gathecha emphasized the government’s vision of integrating environmental conservation into public service activities, encouraging active citizen participation in this mission.
