The Chisholm Trail Arts Council’s calendar for the new year is absolutely full, including activities of all kinds – art exhibits, jewelry making workshops, live concerts, artist receptions and awards shows.

CTAC will kick off Watercolor Wednesdays from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Jan. 9 with an opening reception to feature a group watercolor-focused artists, like Robin Bannister, LaRetha “Spanky” Davis, Jana Oakman, Debbie Sullivan and Sue Wheeler.

Near the end of January, the Duncan Area Arts Hall of Fame will honor those who dedicate themselves to the arts, like CTAC Executive Director Darcy Reeves, at 6:30 p.m Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Simmons Center. Other inductees will include Merle and Priscilla Brandon, Dave Carney, Robby McMurtry, Jennifer Steil and J.D. Taylor.

Duncan Area Arts Hall of Fame Spectacular tickets are on sale and can be obtained from the Simmons Center, by calling 580-252-2900 ext. 2 or online at www.simmonscenter.com.

VIP tickets are $75 and feature closer seating to the stage, a private meet and greet reception with visual artists at 5:30 p.m., as well as parking privileges, a reception following the event and their name included in a drawing for a piece of artwork by Eve Cornejo.

For general admission, tickets are $35, and include general seating and the after show reception with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.

Then on Feb. 7, there will be a three-performance show featuring several acts from Oklahoma and an array of genres.

A Taste of Oklahoma Talent will feature Cellist Sam Kahre and Visual Artist and Painter Kyle Trudelle, Saxophonist Jermaine Mondaine and OK3 — Kenna Fields, Sierra Sikes and Courtney Hooker — from The Voice will take the stage.

A Taste of Oklahoma Talent is sponsored by First Bank & Trust and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

A new workshop with host Sherri Lane will bring the art of jewelry making to CTAC on Feb. 22. Attendees will get the opportunity to create their own set of earrings and necklace, as well as learning how to care for the jewelry.

The first session will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for earrings and the second session will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. for a necklace. With space limited, participants can choose one or both sessions.

The cost for each session individually is $60 each. For CTAC members, both sessions are $100 when purchased together. For non-members, both sessions are $110. The classes are an hour and a half to two hours long and all materials will be provided.

Next, the 8th Annual Chisholm Trail Arts Council’s Youth Art Show will host the opening night of Youth Art Month with a gallery featuring artwork from students from all across Stephens County and a come and go reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, which is open to school admin, family and friends.
