Culturas, the iconic Tejano showband that dominated the scene in the 1990s, has made a triumphant return with the premiere of their official music video for “No Te Creas”. This marks the band’s first new song in over 20 years.
The music video for “No Te Creas” was directed and edited by Michael and Julia Lopez for The Element⁷. The video showcases the band’s vibrant energy and unique sound that has captivated fans for decades. The band members, Dee Burleson and Delia Gonzales-Silva, are seen performing with their signature passion and charisma.
“No Te Creas” is not just a comeback single, it’s a testament to the band’s enduring legacy and their ability to evolve with the times. The song was released on digital platforms on January 12, 2024, and has since been met with positive reception from fans and critics alike.
Culturas first made their mark in the Tejano music scene with their self-titled debut album in 1992. They earned numerous awards and accolades, including a gold record for their second album “Culture Shock”, which featured major hits such as “Loco, Loco” and “Golpe Traidor”². The band was recognized by the Tejano Music Awards as “Most Promising Band of the Year” in 1993 and as “Show Band of the Year” in 1995.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including health issues and career shifts, the band members have remained resilient. Delia Gonzales, for instance, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 1996 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2008. She has since chosen a career in nursing and has been an advocate and fundraiser for victims of kidney disease.
The release of “No Te Creas” is more than just a comeback, it’s a celebration of Culturas’ enduring legacy and a testament to their unwavering commitment to their craft. As they embark on this new chapter, Culturas continues to inspire and entertain, proving that their music is truly timeless. The group plans to release a final album this year.
