Daniel Lee’s Burberry Strikes Again for FW24

Daniel Lee presented his third showcase for Burberry this season at London Fashion Week, offering a celebration of all things British. The late, great Amy Winehouse soundtracked the show, while guests like Skepta, Barry Keoghan, Central Cee and Little Simz took the atmospheric guest list to new heights.

As always, reinventions of classic outerwear and Burberry’s signature check made their appearances, but it’s the fabrics this season that truly left a lasting impact. Fuzzy shearling trims, tactile fringing and smooth supple leather characterized the Fall/Winter 2024 collection, while contemporary silhouettes, oversized designs and slouchy layering elevated the garments into desirable styles.

Who: The star-studded event, often the highlight of the fashion week calendar, saw guests like Little Simz, Barry Keoghan, Leomie Anderson, Central Cee and Olivia Dean in attendance, while queen Naomi Campbell walked the runway, closing the show.

Where: In true Daniel Lee fashion, the showcase was held in another of London’s glorious outdoor spaces, this time taking to Victoria Park in East London. Guests were ushered into a dimly-lit marquee, complete with green grass-like gravel and oversized cushion seats.

See: Oversized, puffy and distorted outerwear took center stage this season, while Burberry’s signature check was once again revived and reimagined for a new generation. A muted color palette of greens and beiges characterized FW24, interspersed with hues of brown, khaki, red and yellow.

Touch: Texture offered a hint of playfulness into otherwise sombre silhouettes, with thick fuzzy scarves, fur trims and pleats adding mystery and intrigue. Outerwear was crafted from warm, furry materials, with fringing, ribbing and shearling trims only adding to the tactility.

Hear: Amy Winehouse classics soundtracked the poignant end to LFW, with “You Know I’m No Good” kicking things off.

Taste: The classic Burberry check is not about to go out of style, but it’s clear that outerwear is FW24’s guiding light, and the key to making any statement look.
