Daniel Radcliffe has recently talked about working on the Harry Potter set with the late Michael Gambon.
Gambon, who played Dumbledore in six of the eight Harry Potter movies, reportedly died of pneumonia on September 28 at the age of 82.
On Monday, when Radcliffe was at Variety’s Business of Broadway Breakfast, he was asked about how he worked with the late great actor.
The 34-year-old said, “The wonderful thing about Michael is that he wasn’t an actor you talked about acting with.”
Radcliffe went on to say, “His true passion was restoring 19th-century Italian duelling pistols.”
Radcliffe said this about Gambon’s playing style: “He knows he’s at his best when he’s at his most playful. His ability to switch on was second to none.”
J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter books, and Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, also said how they felt about Gambon’s death.
Radcliffe also said something on social media in which he praised Gambon’s great acting and huge amount of ability.
Aside from that, Radcliffe talked about playing with Richard Griffiths’s uncle Vernon Dursley in Off-Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along.
Radcliffe added, “I learned a lot from watching the way Richard approaches theatre as a process of constant and relentless refinement. You’re never done. Your last show should be your best.”
