David Beckham’s company, DB Ventures, is apparently embroiled in a costly legal battle with counterfeiters who sell false versions of his products online.
The 48-year-old former player, who has endorsed apparel, fragrances, and accessories, is seeking £1.58 million from each vendor involved in the sale of counterfeit goods to followers.
DB Ventures is a subsidiary of David’s full-service worldwide brand management company, DRJB Holdings Limited, whose profit is expected to reach £72 million in 2022.
There are rumours that David Beckham sold a 55% share in the company to Authentic Brands for £200 million that same year.
Seven Global, another of David Beckham’s projects outside of DB projects, achieved a profit of £ 8.4 million from agreements with Adidas, Tudor, and Safilo.
According to The Sun, the controlling investors have employed trademark lawyers The Sladkus Group to halt selling on eBay, Amazon, and Etsy.
According to documentation filed in the United States, fraudulent transactions ‘erode the brand’s reputation’ and cost the company ‘considerable lost sales and harm.’
According to a source, Authentic Brands wants to crack down on anyone who make money by selling things bearing David’s name.
‘David and the team pride themselves on the quality of what they sell, including their clothes and fragrances, and they don’t want people being unwittingly ripped off when they buy a fake.’
It comes after DB Ventures made a large payment to an unnamed individual.
The 48-year-old football legend, who owns a real estate company, allegedly paid a stunning $10 million salary to a mystery employee in 2022.
