Deer Leaps Over Car, Crashes Into Truck As New Buyer Shows Up: Reports

MAYS LANDING, NJ — In what could only be called a moment of awful yet impeccable timing, a home security camera captured the moment a deer leaped over a car in a New Jersey driveway and crashed into a nearby pickup — just as the truck’s new owners arrived to purchase it, according to multiple reports.

In video obtained by ABC 7 New York, the buck is seen soaring through the air before it slams into the bed of Jay Vaughan’s 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Without missing a beat, the deer recovers before it jumps out of the truck and runs away.

Vaughan told NBC 10 the video was captured over the weekend as he prepared to meet a potential buyer of the truck. He said the pickup was in “mint condition” and the deer’s arrival happened just as the buyer pulled up in front of his house.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” Vaughan told NBC 10. “You know? You promised the guy that truck’s in immaculate condition and a deer comes out of nowhere and just caves the side of it in.”

Luckily, the newly acquired dent wasn’t enough to scare off the buyer. He bought the truck anyway, and Vaughan even threw in a $1,000 discount, reports said.

In an interview with NBC 10, Vaughan’s son called it a moment he won’t forget.

“It’s funny seeing it on the video but it was shocking to see in person. I’ve never seen anything jump that high in my life,” Troy Wescott told the station. “I’m not going to ever forget this.”
