BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the 100 block of N Samish Way about 8:45pm on Sunday, October 22nd, due to reports of a car versus pedestrian collision. The response and subsequent scene investigation resulted in closing that section of the road for several hours.

Bellingham Police Department (BPD) Lieutenant Claudia Murphy provided the following details via email to Whatcom News.

The investigation showed the driver of the car was driving south on N. Samish Way in the 100 block and the pedestrian was walking along/crossing the road, not in a crosswalk. It was dark and the driver did not see the pedestrian walking along/across N. Samish and could not avoid the collision, striking the pedestrian. The driver immediately stopped and remained on scene.

Bellingham Fire Department Medics transported the critically injured pedestrian to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Emergency Department for further medical attention.
