The Detroit Auto Show has announced its 2026 dates, keeping the traditional mid-January schedule that the event resumed in 2025.
The 2026 show will take place Jan. 14-25 at Huntington Place in Detroit. The media and industry programming will be Jan. 14 and 15. The charity preview will be Jan. 16. The public is invited to see the show Jan. 17-25.
“Having just concluded the show’s incredible return to its traditional time slot, we’re excited to announce next year’s dates and keep the momentum going,” said 2026 Detroit Auto Show Chair Todd Szott. “January is synonymous with cars in the Motor City, and we expect plenty of auto-centric experiences to, once again, be on tap for the 2026 show.”
Other details confirmed for the next event include a Racing Day, presented by the Detroit Grand Prix.
The 2025 Detroit Auto Show featured 34 brands and nearly 500 vehicles with related programs and partnerships. Estimated attendance was in the hundreds of thousands; with an economic impact of up to $370 million. The 2026 schedule was tweaked a bit as compared to 2025; pushing preview days ahead of the charity event date.
“This is how it was for many years, and it worked very well for OEMs and suppliers,” said Joe Rohatynski, vice president, Corporate Communications, AISIN.
The event that is now Detroit’s annual auto show began in 1965, and for a time was known as the North American International Auto Show.
The 2020 event was intended to take place in June, the move planned a couple of years in advance to allow for outdoor events along with the indoor venue activities. However, both the 2020 and 2021 shows were canceled because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The show took place with September dates in 2022 and 2023.
