Did Drake Bell Disappear to Make a Suicide Attempt

The 911 call that was made when Drake Bell went missing has now been made public. It shows how the call made people worry about the actor’s life.

After Bell was reported “missing and in danger” on Thursday and later said to be “safe,” a 911 call that shows how Bell was feeling during the disappearance is making the rounds on the internet.

During this week’s concerning disappearance of the Nickelodeon alum, an officer from the Orlando Police Department was recorded explaining the circumstances. TMZ first shared this recording.

“I have a possible attempted suicide,” says the officer, who says his name is Steve. The audio isn’t clear.

“Basically there is a celebrity who had a falling out with this wife, and we got involved because we’ve been in touch with the family in California saying that he’s going to get drunk and hang himself, and he’s in a hotel somewhere in Orlando. And then we finally got permission to ping the phone, and that’s what the ping came back to,” the officer said, explaining how they found Bell.

On Friday, the Orlando Police Department’s Public Information Officer confirmed to PEOPLE that on April 12, 2023, at about 6:09 p.m., a worried family member called the Orlando Police Department Communications Center to say that someone might want to hurt himself. After figuring out that the person was in Daytona Beach, FL, the OPD communications operator called the Volusia County Sheriff’s office and gave the operator there the information about the first 911 call. At that point, the case was given to the Daytona Beach Police Department to look into.

The outlet asked Bell for a comment, but a representative did not respond right away.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Daytona Beach Police Department said that the Drake & Josh star was “missing and in danger.” They also said that “officers are looking” for him.

After a few hours on the same day, DBPD Public Information Officer Carrie McCallister said in a statement, “At this time, we can confirm that law enforcement officials are in contact and Mr. Bell is safe.”

The celebrity later tweeted an emoji-accompanied joke about the incident, reading, “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this.”

Bell and his son Jeremy were seen at SeaWorld in Orlando days before the incident, and Bell’s ex-wife, Janet Von Schmeling, is mentioned in the 911 call.
