Did you see a chicken truck around Burlington? This is the message it’s sending

An unusual sighting on Church Street Wednesday Afternoon: a truck featuring chickens headed to the slaughter made its way around downtown Burlington. The truck is part of protests by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, encouraging people to go vegan. Along the side of the truck was a message that read “Does this bother you? Please go vegan.”The organization said this is a critical message, especially after the bird flu outbreak this year, and added that raising chickens for food puts the animals at higher risk of spreading similar kinds of viruses. While the truck was unable to park on Church Street as the organization intended, it still caught the attention of many. While already a vegetarian, Vaiju Ravi, a tourist visiting Burlington, said the truck is an effective way to make a statement.”It definitely caught our eye for sure, and it could catch anybody’s eyes,” Ravi said.
