ZAG, the independent animation studio, and Method Animation (Mediawan Kids & Family) recently revealed that Disney Branded Television Series has acquired seasons 6 and 7 of the animated series Miraculous — Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, in addition to three original animated specials.
The seasons and specials will run on Disney Channels worldwide, then stream on Disney+. They are produced in collaboration with Disney Branded Television, Brazil’s Globosat, France’s TF1, and Italy’s KidsMe. Seasons 6 and 6 consist of 26 22-minute episodes.
“We are excited to continue working with Disney Branded Television to create first-class content for Miraculous fans everywhere,” says Jeremy Zag, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ZAG. “Our audiences resonate with this coming-of-age series about ordinary kids learning the importance of believing in themselves and understanding that you don’t need to be a superhero or wear a mask to reach your dreams and overcome fears.”
In season 6 of Miraculous, the superheroes must face a new enemy in a revitalized, eco-friendly Paris. At the same time, their alter-egos Adrien and Marinette are close, but still keep secrets. Season 6 is currently in production for a fall 2024 launch.
The first 44-minute special, “Miraculous World: Paris, Tales of Shadybug & Claw Noir,” is now available on Disney Channel and Disney+ in the U.S. The special follows Ladybug and Cat Noir as they discover a parallel world. The second of the three specials is currently in pre-production.
The new seasons and specials will feature new visuals, produced via Unreal Engine, a gaming platform and an advanced real-time 3D creation tool for photoreal visual and immersive experiences.
“The Miraculous universe continues to expand, captivating an increasingly vast and demanding fan community. These new adventures will meet their expectations and are poised to surprise and inspire dreams,” says Julien Borde, President of Mediawan Kids & Family.
