Displays at ‘The Gallery at Lakeland Community College’ open through Jan. 24

The Lakeland Community College Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition is on display now through Jan. 24 in the Gallery at Lakeland, housed inside the D-Building on the college’s campus in Kirtland.

The annual exhibition serves to highlight the creative talents of Lakeland’s visual arts faculty, with artistic mediums represented in a diverse collection, including acrylic painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry/metals, mixed media, weaving and graphic design.

While nearly all past and present exhibitors in the show have been part of Lakeland’s fine arts department, officials noted, this year the gallery’s main hallway features photographs from Becky Grasser, professor of information technology and computer science.

Additionally, her work is currently on display in Stella’s Art Gallery in Willoughby.

Lakeland officials noted that most pieces on display are available for purchase at Arts at Lakeland, adding highlights include the annual “from WOMAN….” exhibition, which is the largest exhibition of female artists in the region; the May Show Juried Art Exhibition; and the pop culture-related exhibition, “The Skull and Skeleton in Art.”

These exhibitions support and advance recognition of Lakeland’s fine arts academic programs, diversity efforts at the college, community arts groups, and local, regional, and national artists.

All gallery shows remain free and open to the public and are wheelchair accessible.
