District 99 Brings In New Dean, Chief Technology Officer

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Community High School District 99 recently added two new hires to its ranks. Robert Godinez was brought on as dead of Downers Grove South High School and Philip Howard was hired to serve as the district’s chief technology officer.

Godinez has worked in Chicago Public Schools for close to a decade in a number of roles. He was resident principal at Carver Military Academy High School and assistant principal at Peace & Education Coalition Alternative High School and Farragut Academy.

“I’m committed to being an effective and inspirational leader by leading with empathy and equity, being a collaborative partner, and continuing to develop my skill set as a school leader,” Godinez said in a news release.

He added, “As I transition into this role, I look forward to working with students, staff, parents, and community members as we continue to create high-quality learning environments and opportunities to develop students into lifelong learners.”

Howard brings nearly 25 years of experience to his role as chief technology officer. Most recently, Howard has been with Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 as their executive director of technology. Prior to that, he spent close to 10 years with Elgin Community College.

“Philip’s experience and impact using technology as a teaching and learning tool, as well as a tool for operational efficiency, will have a positive impact on both our current and future plans in an ever changing technological landscape,” District 99’s assistant superintendent for learning resources, Dr. Travis McGuire, said.
