Djokovic vs Rublev Prediction (SF): 2023 ATP Paris Tennis

Novak Djokovic will be looking for another title at the 2023 Rolex Paris Masters. The Serb has won the title in France’s capital six times in the past. He is on the hunt for number seven this weekend. However, he has a tough match in front of him as he will face Andrey Rublev in a match that will be played on Saturday. My Djokovic vs Rublev prediction is that the latter will win at least one set in this upcoming match.

Novak Djokovic vs Andrey Rublev Head-to-Head Series

Djokovic has generally looked comfortable in previous head-to-head meetings against Rublev. There are three straight-set victories for the Serb in their series, including two that were played indoors on the hard-court surface (ie. like Paris). Djokovic also won the only match that was played outdoors on cement. In fact, the current World No. 1 is 7-0 in sets played against Rublev on the hard-court surface, whether indoors or outdoors.

Rublev’s only win over Djokovic came in Belgrade on clay in 2022. That match featured a very rare set loss for Djokovic where he failed to win a game. Djokovic and Rublev last met in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, where Djokovic prevailed in four sets. Overall, he is 4-1 against Rublev in a series that dates back to 2021.

Djokovic vs Rublev Prediction: Rublev wins a set

Rublev has been sharp in Paris this week. He is 6-1 on sets played, with just a hiccup in the last round against Alex de Minaur. The draw has been a soft one for Rublev. He did not have to beat a high seed en route to the semifinals, with Jannik Sinner pulling out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Djokovic has dropped two sets en route to the final. In his last two matches, there was a chance that he could be eliminated. However, he survived against Tallon Griekspoor and Holger Rune in the last two rounds, beating each playing 6-4 in the third.

Bettors should fish for Rublev winning a set here at -150 (bet365). You certainly cannot love +200 odds on the moneyline for the Russian as the head-to-heads can’t be ignored. But one way you could look at this match is that Djokovic dropped sets in the last two matches to players who are inferior to Rublev. My recommendation is to take the Russian at -150 to win at least one set in this contest (bet365).
