Doja Cat Discusses the Context of His Latest Single ‘Balut’

Doja Cat recently appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), and she has now talked about how the name of her new song, “Balut,” came to be.

The 27-year-old rapper used her Instagram story to explain the meaning and theme of her new song in response to questions from her fans about the song’s unusual name.

She wrote, “I named the song Balut because it signifies a bird that’s being eaten alive.”

Doja went on, “It’s a metaphor for Twitter stans and the death of Twitter toxicity. The beginning of X and the end of ‘tweets.’”

Balut is the fourth song on the singer’s new record, Scarlet, which will be out soon.

Attention, Paint the Town Red, and Demons are all songs from Doja’s upcoming record, which is set to come out on September 22.

Balut is a famous dish in the Philippines. It is made from a fertilized, developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten right out of the shell.
