Michael Pink’s world-renowned production of Dracula on stage in Milwaukee this month

BATH TODAY LOOKING HEAD ON ARTS AVENUE DRACULA IS COMING TO MILWAUKEE. JOINING US NOW LIVE OVER ZOOM IS THE CO-CREATOR AND THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR FOR THE MILWAUKEE BALLET, MICHAEL PINK. HEY, MICHAEL, GOOD TO SEE YOU THIS MORNING. HEY, GOOD MORNING TO EVERYBODY. YOU ARE ONE OF THE CREATORS OF THIS BALLET. WALK ME THROUGH WHAT IS YOUR TAKE AND WHAT IS HOW DOES THIS TAKE MAKE DRACULA SO UNIQUE? WELL, THE FIRST THING THAT MAKES IT UNIQUE IS THE PRODUCTION IS OVER 26 YEARS OF AGE, AND IT HAS INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS. S I RECENTLY JUST CAME BACK FROM TOKYO HAVING STAGED THE WORK FOR THE FOURTH TIME. SO IT TELLS YOU THAT IF IT IF IT HAS WINGS AND CAN FLY BEYOND THE MILWAUKEE, THEN IT HAS A REAL ATTRACTION. IT’S, IT’S JUST AN EXCITING EVENING IN THE THEATER. THE MUSIC BY PHILIP FEENEY, ENGLISH COMPOSER. THE SETS AND DESIGNS, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS GOTHIC. IT’S THEATRICAL. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS IF YOU DON’T LIKE BALLET, THIS IS PERFECT FOR YOU BECAUSE IT’S REALLY TELLING A STORY WITH WITHOUT WORDS, LIKE A SILENT MOVIE, AND IT’S JUST THRILLING. AND AGAIN, ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT HAS INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS. IT TRAVELS THE WORLD. PEOPLE LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. SO PLEASE DON’T MISS IT BECAUSE UNFORTUNATELY, WE ONLY GET TO PERFORM ONE WEEKEND HALLOWEEN WEEKEND. THAT’S THE MILWAUKEE BALLET AT THE PARK WITH DRACULA. WE HAVE LIVE MUSIC, INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF DANCERS ON STAGE AND SO MUCH ACTIVITY. SO IF YOU WANT TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN, THERE’S NO BETTER WAY TO DO IT THAN IN THE COMPANY OF THE COUNT HALLOWEEN WEEKEND. I SAY GIVE ME THE DETAILS OF WHAT PEOPLE TO KNOW AND WHEN THEY’LL BE ON STAGE AND WHAT THEY KNOW IF THEY STILL WANT TO GET TICKETS. SO YEAH, IT OPENS ON THE 26TH, WHICH IS THIS COMING THURSDAY. WE HAVE THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY WE HAVE TWO SHOWS AND SUNDAY ONE SHOW. SO FOR MORE INFORMATION, REALLY JUST GO TO MILWAUKEE BALLET.ORG OR GO TO THE PARK, THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER BOX OFFICE. YOU CAN FIND IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND THERE’S SO MUCH GOOD STUFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA. SO JUST GET IN THE IN THE MOOD, GET IN THE MOOD AND REACH OUT AND FAILING THAT, JUST JUST SCREAM AS LOUD AS YOU CAN. SOMEBODY WILL DIRECT YOU TO DRACULA. I’M CURIOUS, MICHAEL, AS YOU SIT BACK AND WATCH THIS TIME AND AGAIN AND SEE THE NEW PERFORMANCES, DO NEW MOMENTS, STICK OUT IN YOUR HEAD, OR DO YOU HAVE FAVORITE PARTS THAT CHANGE THROUGHOUT THESE PERFORMANCES? YOU KNOW, I THINK I DO. THERE ARE THERE WHEN PEOPLE TALK ABOUT CHANGES, THE CHANGES ARE REALLY ABOUT WHOEVER’S PERFORMING THESE ROLES. LIKE GREAT ACTORS, THEY BRING SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO IT. THERE’S NO QUESTION THAT DRACULA HAS FOUR. THERE WERE THREE MAJOR ENCOUNTERS IN THE PRODUCTION, AND EACH ONE OF THEM IS VERY UNIQUE. BUT CAPTIVATING. AND IT’S STILL TO THIS DAY IT HOLDS MY ATTENTION, I GUESS, BECAUSE I’M BEING DRAWN INTO SEEING HOW WELL THEY’RE DOING IT. BUT AGAIN, I’VE SEEN SO MANY AMAZING DANCERS PERFORM THE ROLE OF DRACULA AND EACH ONE OF THEM BRINGS A CERTAIN UNIQUE INTEREST TO IT, A LITTLE SINISTER SOMETHING, AND IT’S CAPTURING. I ALSO SAY THAT THE AUDIENCE SITS IN A DARK THEATER, HAVING THIS ONE ON ONE EXPERIENCE WITH THE COUNT AND IT DOESN’T MATTER. NOBODY’S EVER GOING TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING SO YOU CAN ESCAPE INTO THIS INCREDIBLE JOURNEY AND EVERYBODY SAYS, WHY DRACULA? ISN’T HE A BAD GUY? HE MAY BE, BUT HE’S SO CAPTIVATED AND HE’S SO ALLURING. AND THAT’S WHY VAMPIRISM AND DRACULA REMAINS, TO THIS DAY, PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR TOPICS FOR MOVIES, PLAYS, TV, FOR BALLET. I WAS GOING TO SAY, YOU SAY CAPTIVATING. ARE WE GOING TO BE SCARED AS WELL? ARE YOU GOING TO BE SCARED? BUT YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE THE PRODUCTION, AS IN ALL MY PRODUCTIONS, I RELY ON YOUR YOUR FERTILE IMAGINATION. SO MUCH OF WHAT FRIGHTENS US IS WITHIN OURSELVES. YOU IMAGINE EVERY TIME YOU THE TIMES YOU MIGHT HAVE WALKED INTO A DARKENED ROOM AND YOU STOP FOR A SECOND OR YOU BEFORE YOU GO TO BED, YOU MIGHT JUST PEEK UNDER THE BED JUST TO MAKE SURE. AND IT’S THAT SORT OF LEVEL OF OF IMAGINATION THAT REALLY ENGAGES THE AUDIENCE. AND THAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT LIVE THEATER IS IT PULLS YOU IN. AND IF ONCE YOU’RE IN AND WE CAN KEEP HOLD OF YOU AND YOU CAN BE A PART OF THAT PRODUCTION, YOU WILL HAVE AN AMAZING EVENING. SO IT’S CERTAINLY WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION, WHICH IS VERY REASONABLE AND IT’S CERTAINLY WORTH AN EVENING IN THE THEATER WITH YOUR LOVED ONES, WITH YOUR BEST FRIENDS, WITH WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE COME AND HAVE FUN AND THEN GO OUT AND CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN. I THINK WE ARE SOLD. MICHAEL PINK, THANK YOU SO MUCH. DRACULA ON STAGE AT THE MARCUS CENTER STARTING THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. THAT HALLOWE
