Driver charged with OWI after crashing into car, injuring two people


BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) – A Readlyn man has been arrested and charged with OWI after blowing through a stop sign and crashing into a car. 

Iowa State Patrol were on scene just before 3 p.m. along Highway 63 at East Cedar Wapsi Road.

Once on scene they learned Matthew Matthias, 45 was approaching a stop sign facing east when he failed to stop while crossing highway 63 and was hit by another car driven by Charles Stone, 60 of Cedar Rapids. 

Both Charles and his passenger, Lily Stone, 56 were taken to Allen Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Matthias was charged with OWI and failing to yield. The accident remains under investigation.

Black Hawk County Sheriff, Denver Fire and EMS, and Raymount Towing assisted at the scene.
