DuBOIS — The usual large throng of DuBois Knights attended the November meeting on a Monday evening at McGivney Hall with grand knight Ray Donati presiding.

After the regular business matters were finished, Donati presented a special Service Award to Terry Douthit for his exceptional devotion to the order.

Douthit was given a standing ovation by the many members in the hall who were well aware of the impact Douthit has made in the council and for the community. For many years, Douthit served as council recorder, par excellence, and led his brother knights through his actions and encouragement in the organization’s many activities. His friendship is cherished by the men and their families.

Before the regular meeting, the first reverse raffle meeting was held by new Chairmen James Scerbo and Angelo Illuzzi with record attendance. The event will take lace on April 27, 2024.

Following the Rosary, Donati opened the meeting at 7 p.m. with a traditional fraternal and patriotic ceremony and prayer.

Chaplain Deacon Paul Boboige gave a short homily on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, before Donati went over correspondence and thanked the knights for helping paint the parish rectory. Donati also asked the knights to consider taking up the ministry of visiting patients at the nursing home.

Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree, Gene Grzeda, spoke of the Salvation Army Kettle Drive after Thanksgiving and is organizing the event. The Color Corp will be present when the bishop gives mass on Dec. 2.

District Deputy Dave Johnston explained the “Knight Before Christmas” program for membership recruitment and various incentives for the knights.

The closing prayer was followed by food and fellowship.

The knights meet again on Dec. 4 in McGivney Hall at 7 p.m.
