Duke basketball optimistic with Kyle Filipowski injury

Kyle Filipowski’s injury initially looked scary against Bucknell, but Duke basketball is optimistic they avoided the worst. Filipowski returned to play in the second half.

Uh better than I initially thought. You know, the fact he could get back in there and play was encouraging. Um I didn’t know at first but I, again, you always wanna see swelling overnight and things like that, but we feel very optimistic, you know about his situation. Yeah, I mean, look, he’s, he’s not a guy that usually stays down. So when that happens, you’re, you don’t know, you’re thinking for the game, of course, then also you don’t know if it’s long term or whatever it is and I’m just thankful he’s ok. Uh Of course, I don’t need to tell you guys, he’s a big part of what we do and big focal points. So, uh I’m just happy he’s ok though. Um Obviously I was um scared for him. Obviously, any of my teammates go down, I’m scared. Um and he came back, we can lock him. He said he was gonna go back out and he seemed like he was doing fine when he got out there. So flip when he went down there, what, what was your initial thoughts with that? That’s a crisis when flip goes down, it’s a crisis. That’s you know, obviously a key part of our team. So, just trying to make sure he’s good and ready for the rest of the season. Did he say anything to half time about how he was feeling? He did come out there in the second half and play. Yeah. Yeah, he just so he said he would be good. I trust him, trust our athletic staff to get him right. So he’ll be good.
