Dwayne Johnson, the beloved actor and former professional wrestler, recently made headlines for an unexpected reason – his botched wax figure at the Grévin Museum in Paris.
Fans and people on the internet were quick to express their shock and dismay at the waxwork model’s light skin tone and a seemingly uncharacteristic outfit.
Wax figure is not representative of The Rock
The wax figure, clad in a suburban dad-like ensemble, was a far cry from the iconic image of “The Rock” that fans have come to know and love.
Many were left scratching their heads and wondering why the museum opted for such a questionable portrayal.
The comparisons were relentless, with the wax figure drawing instant comparisons to Mr. Clean, the famous mascot for a cleaning product.
Comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. took to social media to roast the wax figure, humorously pointing out the discrepancies.
“You know Black ass Samoan The Rock? That’s how Paris thinks he looks,”Jefferson Jr. says in the video.
“They turned The Rock into a pebble!… it looks like The Rock has never seen the sun a day in his life… You make the rock look like he David Beckham. It looks like The Rock is going to be a part of the royal family. Did y’all even Google him?”
The Rock in contact with museum for update
In response to the public mockery, Dwayne Johnson himself took to Instagram to address the issue.
He shared the video from Jefferson Jr. and expressed his intention to rectify the situation.
“I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements – starting with my skin color,”Johnson remarked in the caption.
He also humorously added, “And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”
The Grévin Museum promptly acknowledged the oversight and pledged to make the necessary corrections.
In an email statement, they assured Johnson and the public that the wax figure would be updated as quickly as possible, with new photos to follow.
They even extended an invitation for Johnson to visit the museum in person for a celebratory drink.
While Dwayne Johnson’s wax figure may have raised eyebrows, the actor himself is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Christmas movie, “Red One,” co-starring Chris Evans.
