€20,000 grant launched for projects that showcase Wicklow’s rich arts and culture

A total funding package of €20,000 is available under the Creative Grant Scheme is available for Wicklow not-for-profit organisations, local community groups, arts, heritage, biodiversity and cultural groups, venues and societies.

This scheme is now in its third year and has been designed to support Wicklow County Council’s role in delivering the Creative Ireland Programme.

Activities that effectively capture and showcase the richness of County Wicklow’s arts, culture, creativity, heritage, nature, biodiversity, and history are welcomed. Applications by individuals must be in partnership with local community, arts, heritage, biodiversity and cultural groups.

Grants between €1,000 and €3,000 will be allocated to selected projects that communicate and celebrate aspects of Wicklow People and Place in creative and innovative ways. The applications will be assessed by members of Wicklow County Council’s Culture Team with representation from the Heritage, Arts, Libraries and Archives departments.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy, said: “Wicklow County Council aims to place creativity and culture at the heart of communities throughout Wicklow, recognising that creativity positively influences wellbeing, and community and economic success.”

Wicklow County Council Chief Executive, Emer O’Gorman stated: “We are delighted to be in a position to support the innovative projects that have earned Wicklow County Council recognition as a creative county, where local community groups showcase and celebrate the richness of county Wicklow’s art and culture.”

The Creative Ireland Programme is led by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. The programme’s core focuses in on encouraging participation in cultural and creative activity to promote individual, community and national wellbeing.

Applications must be made online at wicklowcountycouncil.submittable.com/submit by the closing date of Tuesday, March 19 at 4 p.m.
