MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – Eisenhower Dance Detroit will perform this Thursday and Friday at Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre.
Eisenhower Dance Detroit is considered one of the finest contemporary dance companies in the Midwest. The non-profit dance company is in its 33rd season and presents an annual Detroit Metro performance series and tours nationally and internationally.
“What people can expect when they come to see the show is a diverse range of different repertory that we’re doing,” said Dancer/Company Member Nirvan Singh. “We have some exciting pieces; we have something a little more intimate such as our tangos. We also have a very, I would say, curious pieces where we are very internal really trying to connect with our fellow dancers. You will also be seeing a brand-new premiere of a piece by our Artistic Director Stephanie Pizzo. Right now, it’s just in the preview process, but I’m excited for you guys to check it out.”
Artistic Director Stephanie Pizzo says, “I think the beauty about the art of dance as along with other performing arts is that it transports you and transcends you into another realm. I think that it’s just nice to get out for an evening and get away and allow the dancers to take you to a different place.”
Eisenhower Dance Detroit will perform at NMU’s Forest Roberts Theatre February 8-9 with both shows starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at tickets.nmu.edu.
