El Paso Animal Services makes strides in pet health with fourth drive-thru wellness clinic

On Sunday the City of El Paso Animal Services Department, in collaboration with sponsor Petco Love, hosted a drive-thru pet wellness clinic at 6500 Bonanza Street.

This is the fourth event of its kind this year, showcasing the department’s commitment to promoting the health and safety of pets in the Borderland.

The free clinic, operating on a first-come, first-served basis, accommodated the first 500 pets.

Participants were required to keep their pets inside their vehicles throughout the drive-thru clinic.

Dogs had to be securely leashed, while cats were to be placed in suitable carriers.

During the clinic, all pets received microchipping, dogs received a crucial parvo/distemper vaccination, and cats were provided with a feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (FVRCP) vaccination.

Eligibility for vaccines included pets aged six weeks or older, and no other pet vaccinations were available at the clinic.

This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to protect pets from potentially life-threatening diseases prevalent in the region.

Beyond safeguarding individual pets, vaccinations contribute to the overall health and well-being of the entire pet community.

Organizers say by vaccinating their pets, owners play a pivotal role in creating a safer environment, reducing the risk of outbreaks, and ensuring a happier, healthier life for their furry companions.
