Emily Ratajkowski Quit Acting, Fired Her Team

Emily Ratajkowski told the Los Angeles Times in a new interview that she has pretty much stopped acting because Hollywood is so “fucked up.” The supermodel’s acting career got off to a big start with a supporting role in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl,” which starred Ben Affleck. Ratajkowski played Nick Dunne’s (Affleck) student Andie Fitzgerald, who is having an affair with him. She later starred in movies like “We Are Your Friends” and “I Feel Pretty,” but she hasn’t been in a movie since “Lying and Stealing” came out in 2019.

Ratajkowski said of her decision to stop acting, “I didn’t feel like, ‘Oh, I’m an artist and this is my way to express myself.’” “I felt like a piece of meat that people were judging and asking, “Does she have anything else besides her breasts?”

Ratajkowski and her team worked hard after “Gone Girl” to find roles that would show that she is a “serious actress with longevity.” She only got small parts, but it wasn’t because she didn’t try. She kept trying out for movies over the past few years, including “Triangle of Sadness,” which won at Cannes and was nominated for an Oscar. Ratajkowski didn’t get the part of Yaya because Charlbi Dean died before she could.

Ratajkowski said that when she was figuring out how to be an actor in Hollywood, she realized that she would have to make herself “digestible to powerful men in Hollywood.” Because of this, she fired her acting agent, her commercial representative, and her manager at the beginning of 2020.

“I didn’t trust them,” Ratajkowski said. “I said to myself, ‘I can handle phone calls. I’m going to decide these things. None of you cares about what’s best for me. You all dislike women.’”

Ratajkowski didn’t like Hollywood because of something that happened at a WME party. She went to the event with her husband Sean Bear-McClard, whose “clearly drunk” agent told her she was “like Pamela Anderson before she got hep C.”

Ratajkowski writes in a piece from her book “My Body” that she thought about how Bear-McClard had moved through the room, which was full of men who had kissed Harvey Weinstein’s ring and told their young female clients to meet with him in hotel rooms just two years before. “I didn’t like that my husband knew any of these men.”

Ratajkowski told the Los Angeles Times, “Maybe that’s why I’m not really interested in men’s points of view right now.” “Because it was all a lie. And I’m not talking about cheating. This world is messed up. Hollywood is, like, messed up. And it’s night… I found it hard to even be at such a party. But having a part of me that was so tied to it made it even worse.

Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard are going through a tough divorce and custody battle right now. Bear-McClard was accused of sexual misconduct by several women in a Variety article that came out last month. Bear-McClard did not respond to the claims at the time through a spokesperson.
