Emma Stone’s ‘Poor Things’ Has Been Delayed Until December

Searchlight Pictures has chosen to hold off on putting Yorgos Lanthimos’s interesting movie “Poor Things” in theaters so that it can take advantage of the star power of Hollywood’s best actors.

The movie about a monster will be shown for the first time at the prestigious Venice Film Festival. With the news that “Poor Things” will be shown for the first time in Venice, Searchlight has moved the date of its public release from September 8 to December 8.

“Poor Things” was supposed to come out in theaters in September, but those plans were changed because SAG-AFTRA members joined the strike along with WGA members.

Once the Hollywood actors strike is over, the company will be able to use the popularity of A-list actors like Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Willem Dafoe to promote the movie.

As the industry deals with historic strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America, these groups have banned their members from promoting upcoming projects from big studios or streaming services.

Due to the possible delay, Yorgos Lanthimos might go to the Venice Film Festival when there are fewer stars on the red carpet.

The movie, which Searchlight Pictures made, is about a girl named Bella Baxter, played by Emma Stone, who comes back to life as a Frankenstein-like monster and goes on a journey to find herself and be free.

Mark Ruffalo plays a slick and shady lawyer, while Willem Dafoe is a bright and unusual scientist. The movie also includes Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott.

The script for “Poor Things” was written by Tony McNamara, who also wrote “The Favourite,” which was based on Alasdair Gray’s book of the same name.
