Emmys 2025: Date Set By CBS and Television Academy


As Emmy For Your Consideration season gets underway this week, CBS and the Television Academy have revealed the date and time for this year’s 77th Emmy Awards telecast: Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

The 77th Emmys will air live throughout the mainland on CBS, as well as streaming on Paramount+ (for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers). The kudocast will also be available to watch on demand the next day for all Paramount+ users. The Emmys will once again take place at Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles’ L.A. Live complex.

That means that the two-night Creative Arts Emmys, which usually take place the weekend before the Primetime Emmys telecast, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7. Hosts and producers for the 77th Emmys telecast, as well as the Creative Arts events, will be announced in the future.

As previously announced, the 77th Emmys nominations will be revealed on Tuesday, July 15, at 8:30 a.m. on the Television Academy’s Emmys.com website.

News comes as the TV Academy’s FYC events kicked off Tuesday night with an event for Hulu’s documentary “Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna.” On Wednesday are FYC events for HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones” and Hulu’s “Reasonable Doubt,” followed by HBO’s “House of the Dragon” on Thursday and Hulu’s “Paradise” on Friday.

Also this week, TV Academy chair Cris Abrego announced that the execs he appointed to the Television Academy’s Board of Governors executive committee last year would continue this year: Paul Buccieri, president and chairman, A+E Networks Group; Dany Garcia, founder, CEO and chairwoman, The Garcia Companies, and co-founder, Seven Bucks Productions; Pearlena Igbokwe, chairman of NBC Entertainment; John Landgraf, chairman, FX; Amy Reisenbach, president, CBS Entertainment; and Brandon Riegg, vice president, nonfiction series, Netflix. Per the org, the six “will advise Abrego and the 2025 board on some of the most important issues and initiatives facing the television industry while helping to shape the organization’s direction.”

Also elected by the org’s board to serve as reps on the executive committee include peer group governors Wendy Aylsworth (Science & Technology), Eddie Bonin (Special Visual Effects), David Hartle (Production Executives) and Christina Lee (Public Relations). They join Chair Cris Abrego (Reality Programming), Vice Chair Sharon Lieblein (Casting Directors), 2nd Vice Chair Rickey Minor (Music), Treasurer Ann Leslie Uzdavinis (Commercials) and Secretary Allison Binder (Professional Representatives).
