As he presented the “In Memoriam” part at Sunday night’s Oscars, John Travolta received an audible reaction from the audience, growing emotional as he made a reference to his picture, Grease, which he co-starred in with Olivia Newton John, who died in August last year. “Each of them left an everlasting mark that shared and informed us,” Travolta stated on stage. “They’ve touched our hearts, made us laugh, and become great friends who…” the actor says, attempting to remember his words. “We shall always be hopelessly committed to.” Travolta clutches his heart with his hand, tears welling in his eyes. The phrase “hopelessly devoted” refers to a song sung by Newton-character, John’s Sandy, in the film.
