Enjoy A Classic-Car Journey And A Belgian Chocolate Experience At Delamar Greenwich Harbor

It’s one thing to travel to a luxury hotel, and to have use of the property’s private car. It just might be a Cadillac Escalade or a Mercedes – if you’re lucky – to transport you around town, on a complimentary basis.

But at The Delamar Greenwich Harbor – which just secured its place as the #3 Best Hotel in the Northeast according to Condé Nast Traveler 2023 Reader’s Choice Awards – you can be escorted and chauffeured through town in one of the hotel’s vintage or modern collector classic cars. If you’re a car aficionado – or just a lover of luxury – you may want to check this out this special package,

These cars are from Delamar hotels founder Charles Mallory’s personal car collection and include a 1941 Cadillac Series 60 Special Fleetwood, 1951 Bentley Mark II Countryman Radford, 1962 Imperial Crown, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, and Rolls Royce Phantom 7 Drophead Coupe, to name a few. The driver will take you on a scenic route around town and stop at a scenic spot for a picnic in collaboration with Mark & Graham that features products from their expertly crafted picnic collection. You can even select from the hotel’s autumn-inspired menu, curated by Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer. Why not unplug and rediscover the poetic simplicity of dining en plein air? The two-hour picnic experience is available until November 30th and costs $360pp or $450 for two. A one-hour scenic experience that takes you to picturesque local and backcountry sights is $200 per hour with a one-hour minimum.

The inception of Delamar Hotels began in the year 2000, a visionary endeavor by the owner and CEO, Charles Mallory, following a successful career in the shipping industry. Fueling his lifelong passion for hospitality, Mr. Mallory brought forth a world-class hotel and restaurant to his hometown of Greenwich, Conn., with the opening of Delamar Greenwich Harbor in 2002.

Nestled along the picturesque waterfront of Connecticut’s esteemed Gold Coast, Delamar Greenwich Harbor beckons discerning guests to enter a realm imbued with the enduring refinement reminiscent of the French Riviera. Here, one is graciously invited to indulge in a diverse array of exceptional spa treatments (many by Biologique Recherche and Valmont) or conclude their day with a sumptuous dinner at their renowned French fine-dining establishment, l’escale, under the culinary leadership of Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer.

This group now boasts a portfolio of equally stylish hotels, nestled in charming towns such as Southport and West Hartford. The Delamar Hotels brand is on an exciting trajectory, with plans to extend its presence across Connecticut and unveil two new properties in late 2024: Delamar Westport and Delamar Mystic.

The best room in the house is the Presidential Suite. The 1,200 sq.-ft. Presidential Suite has a corner location that offers an unbeatable view of Greenwich Harbor. This distinctive corner suite has a separate living room with a cozy gas-burning fireplace, a private balcony, and a six-guest dining table. There is a powder room and a private marble bathroom that is adjacent to the master suite and has a deep-soaking tub and standing shower. The master suite features a plush king-size bed and work desk. Rates start at $1,759 per night.

And when all is said and done – visit the hotel’s own Salon BE Chocolat, which has a master chocolatier in residence, the distinguished Benoit Racquet – the only Belgian master chocolatier on the East Coast. Salon BE Chocolat welcomes hotel guests and the local community to indulge themselves in an exceptional chocolate experience where creations are made in small batches (crafted with the inimitable Callebaut luxury brand) respecting Belgium’s traditional artisan techniques. Salon BE Chocolat offers exclusive tastings such as an elevated prosecco and chocolate pairing ($15). You will be guided by one of the esteemed master chocolatiers, a true connoisseur of all-things-chocolate, sharing insights into the cutting-edge chocolate trends sweeping the globe. Chef Racquet’s personal favorite is the rosemary raspberry, but you may just opt for the BE Fall-bulous Bar (milk or dark chocolate with roasted pumpkin seeds, cranberry and a touch of salt) for $16 or the $15 box of four pieces.

It’s all one sweet escape. Especially on four wheels.
