Entertainment and attractions at Charlotte Pride 2024


 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Thousands of people will once again flock Uptown for the annual Charlotte Pride festival and parade.

The festival takes place over the course of two days: Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18 along South Tryon Street. The first day kicks off at noon and runs until 11 p.m. while Sunday goes from noon to 6 p.m.

Charlotte Pride culminates in the Charlotte Pride Parade from 1-4 p.m. Sunday along North Tryon Street.

Here’s a taste of what Pride will offer this year:

ENTERTAINMENT

Pride will have a few stages full of events: Main Stage, Community Stage, Flourish, Charlotte Gaymers Network Stage, and the new Charlotte Black Pride Stage. Each of them will have their own unique lineup.

This year’s headliners are Slayyyter, Baby Tate and Bob the Drag Queen.

FESTIVAL ATTRACTIONS

Flourish: A Celebration of LGBTQ Arts & Culture: 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Mint Museum Uptown at 500 S. Tryon St. LGBTQ performers and groups will show off their skills through spoken word, short films and more in an accessible and air-conditioned space.

Charlotte Black Pride Stage: Noon-6 p.m. both days, Martin Luther King Boulevard. Its inaugural year, the Charlotte Black Pride Stage will feature new and beloved entertainers.

Youth & Family Zone: Noon-6 p.m. both days, The Tree at 425 S. Tryon St. The Youth & Family Zone is only for families and people under 21 years old and will include family-friendly resources, arts and crafts, special entertainment and a family care tent. No alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or disruptive behavior will be allowed.

Charlotte Gaymers Stage: Noon-9 p.m. Saturday, Noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Levine Avenue of the Arts. Charlotte Gaymers Network will host drag entertainers, performers, and gaming activation by the stage.

Health Fair: Noon-10 p.m. Saturday, Noon-6 p.m. Sunday, Festival Zone. Get access to vaccines, tests, and learn about community resources for personal, mental, sexual, veterans’, pregnancy health and more.

Neighborhood Market: Noon-10 p.m. Saturday, Noon-6 p.m. Sunday, Levine Avenue of the Arts. Local artists will come together to show off their individual, handmade goods.

FESTIVAL EVENTS

Charlotte Pride Drag Pageant: 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Community Stage. Local drag performers will compete for the titles of Mx. Charlotte Pride, Ms. Charlotte Pride and Mr. Charlotte Pride.

Charlotte Pride on Parade: 1-4 p.m. Sunday, North Tryon Street between 9th Street and College Street, and online for those who can’t attend. Malachi and Divine Holeburn will emcee.

Charlotte Pride Interfaith Service: 4 p.m. Sunday, Sacred Souls United Church of Christ, 2127 Eastway Drive. Speakers of various faiths will touch on “The Intersection of Faith and Queerness,” with food and fellowship to follow.
