LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Grand Prix has unveiled what it calls a star-studded lineup for the official opening ceremony of the Formula One event next month.
All 20 F1 drivers will be in attendance alongside music stars Andra Day, Bishop Briggs, J Balvin, Journey, Keith Urban, Steve Aoki, Swedish House Mafia, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and will.i.am.
The Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil will also make appearances. There will also be a state-of-the-art lighting display with 1,000 lights and 100 lasers, fireworks and a drone show.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the starting grid. The fun begins with an immersive display celebrating the arrival of Formula One in Las Vegas. Each artist will follow with a performance that pays tribute to Las Vegas’ history.
Organizers say they are planning to accommodate nearly 30,000 people for the ceremony in the grandstands.
“For the first-ever FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX it was important for us to create an opening ceremony that balances the spirit of Las Vegas with the global excitement that Formula 1 and these incredible drivers bring to each host city,” Renee Wilm, CEO of Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., said in a statement.
