ENTERTAINMENT: TheatreSquared ‘finally’ stages ‘Christmas Carol’

TheatreSquared, 477 W. Spring St., Fayetteville, has set its final year’s staging of Amy Herzberg and Robert Ford’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in its West Theatre, 7 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 1 and 7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3-24 (no shows Dec. 23). Arts One season

Springdale-based Arts One Presents’ 2025 theater season features “Empower the Arts: A Gala Celebrating 60 Years of the Arts in Springdale,” April 24 at Sassafras Springs Vineyard and Winery, 6461 E. Guy Terry Road, Springdale.

◼️ July 17-27: “The Wizard of Oz,” music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. “Yip” Harburg, based upon the classic movie, derived from the classic by L. Frank Baum, adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Pat Ellison Performing Arts Center, 2667 Hylton Road, Springdale

◼️ Nov. 28-30: “The 1940’s Radio Hour” by Walton Jones, featuring popular songs from the 1940s, at The Medium.

‘Cirque Christmas’

“A Magical Cirque Christmas,” a touring variety show “full of nostalgia, charm and awe-inspiring performances for all ages” with cirque entertainers performing “to your favorite holiday music,” according to a news release, is onstage at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Little Rock’s Robinson Center Performance Hall, 426 W. Christmas-themed tour

The Rogers Historical Museum, 313 S. Second St. at Cherry Street, Rogers, offers “Oh, Christmas Tree, a Themed Tour of the Hawkins House,” starting Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday through Jan. 4. Visitors will tour through rooms decorated to reflect the history of the Christmas tree and its decor. Admission is free. In the ‘Zone’

Comedian, writer and TV and radio host Rodney Perry will “stand up” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Starr Theatre at Fayetteville’s Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St., part of the center’s Comedy Zone series. Tickets are $25-$35. Call (479) 443-5600 or visit waltonartscenter.org.

And also slated for the center’s Comedy Zone: comedian and actress Helen Hong, performing at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30. Hong, who is a regular on NPR’s “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me,” appeared in the Coen Brothers’ film “Llewyn Davis” and on television in “Jane the Virgin,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Pretty Little Liars.” Tickets are $25-$35.

Windy concert

UALR exhibition

The biennial BFA and Professional Practices Exhibition opens Monday in the Brad Cushman Gallery at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Windgate Center of Art + Design, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock. A reception is set for 5 p.m. Thursday. The exhibition, up until Dec. 6, consists of artwork by students who are graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and students in the Professional Practices course, formerly known as the Capstone course, for the fall 2024 semester. Military/arts grants

Jan. 15 is the deadline to apply for the Creative Forces Community Engagement grant program, part of the National Endowment for the Arts and Mid-America Arts Alliance’s Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network.

Grants support non-clinical, community-based arts engagement programming for military and veteran populations, including family members and caregivers, beginning on or after July 1, 2025, in two categories:

◼️ Emerging — cost share/matching grants up to $10,000 for one-year projects for organizations “to develop and implement new or emerging non-clinical arts engagement programs or for small organizations to provide non-clinical arts engagement,” according to a news release

◼️ Advanced — cost share/matching grants of $10,000 to $20,000 for one-year projects or up to $50,000 for two-year projects for organizations with established military-related non-clinical arts engagement programming.
