Erin Napier Just Shared This Controversial Decor Choice—And Fans Have Thoughts

It can be so tricky to tastefully place a television above a mantel and still maintain that cozy feeling in the living room or den area. If you’re having trouble deciding how to pull off this decor move, just follow one star’s lead. This week, Erin Napier shared her approach to avoiding the big black box being center stage, and fans are obsessed with the outcome. Of course, braving the controversial decor move was made much easier with the use of the Frame TV from Samsung, and in a recent Instagram post, the Home Town star showed off just how well this TV can blend in with the rest of her home decor.

Like so many others this time of year, it looks like her weekend plans included getting comfy by the fireplace. And judging by the responses from her fans, the Frame didn’t take away from that vibe at all. “This room is so beautiful and cozy!” one commenter wrote. “I love your quintessential southern style.” Fellow Frame TV lovers also flocked to Napier’s comments, commending her choice to display art from her little ones on the screen.

As you may know, the choice of whether to mount a television above a fireplace or not is a controversial one. Some love the coziness of the fire and the function of the family TV in one room. Others caution against the TV’s exposure to heat from underneath or the way it draws attention away from your warm hearth. For the aesthetic concerns, there are plenty of creative ways to hide the TV when it’s not movie night, like behind cabinet doors, or by going with a Frame.

In case you need a refresher, Samsung’s Frame TV eliminates the need to choose between art or a TV as a centerpiece. Contrary to the traditional glossy screen, it uses a matte display, so it blends seamlessly into the surrounding decor, as though it were a regular painting. When it’s on as a TV, you can still enjoy 4K picture quality, but switch it to art mode and the TV will dim to the room’s level of brightness, transforming your home into a gallery.

We don’t blame you if it sounds too good to be true, but having witnessed it firsthand, it’s quite the feat. It comes with access to the Samsung Art Store, where you can choose from about 2,500 pieces of artwork to display from The Met, The Louvre and The Tate, in addition to uploading custom images (as Napier did with her television). The screen also mounts flush against the wall to resemble a picture frame, and with interchangeable bezels, you can make it fit into your home aesthetic seamlessly. Of course Napier was able to use it to make her living room feel even more personalized.

And if you can’t get enough of Napier and her inspiring home renovation tips, there’s good news. She just announced via Instagram that Home Town season 7 will be returning on January 7, so you won’t have to wait much longer!
