Evan Ellingson has died at the age of 35 in his home in San Bernadino County, California, United States, with the Coroner’s Office noting that they’re unsure of why but that there is no foul play involved.
His father, Michael, noted that he had a history of substance abuse but he was at a sober-living home and had been doing better recently. He further added that the death had come as a total shock to the entire family, according to TMZ. His body had been discovered in his bedroom.
At the time of his death, he had not been recognised with an acting credit since 2010 marking 13 years out of the industry.
He had a diverse set of roles such as ‘Bones’, ‘Letters from Iwo Jima’ and ‘General Hospital’. His final part appears to have been as Kyle Harmon in hit TV show CSI: Miami alongside David Caruso.
He died 59 miles away from Los Angeles and is the second celebrity death to hit the area in a short window of time after Matthew Perry also died on October 28.
Ellingson’s most famous role
Ellingson made his name by starring in ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ in 2009 alongside Cameron Diaz, in the movie about a family dealing with leukaemia.
Based on a 2004 novel, the film’s plot revolves around a child with the cancer and her family who attempts to force her sister to donate stem cells to rescue her, which is the purpose of why they had her.
However the sister, called Anna, doesn’t wish to do so and sues her parents for the rights to her own body after being asked to donate a kidney. Ellingson’s character joins her side in the argument.
It won the 2009 Teen Choice Award for ‘Choice Summer Movie Drama’, ‘Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture’ from ALMA and two awards from the 2010 Young Artist Awards; ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film – Supporting Actress’ and ‘Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young Actress’.
