Ex-NBA Player Shawn Kemp Arrested in Washington State After Drive-By Shooting


Following a drive-by shooting, Shawn Kemp was taken into custody Wednesday night in Tacoma, Washington.

According to booking records from the Pierce County Prison, Kemp was taken into custody shortly before 6:00 p.m. It is unknown what part Kemp played in the shooting and its aftermath. According to Tacoma Police, the conflict began as an argument between the passengers of two cars shortly before 2:00 p.m. Police also reported recovering a firearm from the site. Kemp was a member of the defunct Seattle Supersonics from 1989 to 1997, as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trailblazers, and Orlando Magic.

According to KING 5, he was a six-time NBA All-Star and owned multiple businesses in the Seattle region, including two cannabis dispensaries.
