Kate Mara and KBH Jewels are joining forces on a charitable jewelry collection.
The actress and New York-based sustainable fine jeweler are teaming up on a collection celebrating Mother’s Day with proceeds benefiting the organization Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection.
Mara has long been involved with Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection and explained the organization is the only conservation center in Liberia that rescues chimpanzees who have been illegally displaced from their mothers and natural habitat.
“I don’t just celebrate one type of mother,” Mara said. “I think that celebrating all different kinds — whether it be human, animal, step-parents, adopted parents, caregivers — all of the people in our lives that help parent our children. It really does take a community to raise children, and I’m a very passionate animal lover. Anytime I can highlight the sanctuary, but also just in general how we treat animals and how similar they are to us — chimpanzee mothers are so similar to us and they want the same things for their babies, so for me, it was a no-brainer for me to highlight them this Mother’s Day with KBH.”
The collaboration came naturally between KBH Jewels and Mara for their shared passion for sustainability and giving back to the planet.
“Kate knows what she loves, which makes designing, collaborating and shooting together easy,” said Kimberly Berry Haisch, founder of KBH Jewels. “Her aesthetic leans towards clean lines with an edge: strong, classic styles that are sustainable, easy to wear and both statement and everyday.”
The jewelry collection is created with 14-karat recycled yellow gold and with lab-grown diamonds. The collection offers rings, earrings, ear cuffs and necklaces ranging in price from $199 to $1,100. Mara named the ear cuff as one of her favorite pieces from the collection.
“I don’t wear a lot of jewelry on a daily basis, but I always wear an ear cuff,” she said. “There’s two different kinds of ear cuffs — there’s a single diamond ear cuff and there’s the double diamond ear cuff. On a daily basis, I’m always wearing one of those. They don’t fall off, which is something that a lot of people I think are nervous about when it comes to cuffs and you don’t need to have your ears pierced, which is awesome.”
This is KBH Jewels’ latest collaboration and first celebrity partnership. The jewelry brand has also partnered with specialty boutique Wyld Blue and with stylist Gabriela Langone.
