Exclusive: Stefanos Tsitsipas looks for more success after doubles victory – ‘I can produce and generate more’

Stefanos Tsitsipas reflected on his new-found doubles success with his brother Petros, and also revealed he thinks his game is improving in general.

The Tsitsipas brothers were winners at the European Open in the doubles event earlier in the month, giving the Greek pair a taste of success.

Stefanos is the more successful of the two but he has not been at his best in 2023, exiting the US Open in the second round in the last Grand Slam of the year, though he retains a No. 7 ranking in men’s singles tennis.

However in recent weeks, things have been looking on the up; as well as the doubles victory, he reached the semi-final stages of both the European Open and Vienna Open.

Discussing the recent victory with his brother, he told Eurosport: “I don’t work only for myself anymore. I feel I am representing a whole idea, a new family member that’s entered our family.

“For me, it’s stronger, it’s bolder, it gives me more purpose. I never thought that something would come into my life that way and I’m super happy, we push each other and it’s a beautiful journey. “

He continued: “I feel positive because my game is at a good level. I was a little bit, not at the best period of my tennis career a few months ago, where I wasn’t feeling it quite as much.

“I didn’t feel like my tennis was quite there. I’m feeling kind of revising from that and getting it back. I’m happy that the progress shows, that there’s slightly better work than before. I feel like with my tennis I can generate and produce more.”

The 25-year-old Greek then revealed a promise he made to himself if he won in Paris.

He added: “I made a promise, and that promise is any big title in France, I’ll have to hire someone to teach me proper French!”
