As the holiday season approaches, there’s no better way to immerse yourself and your family in the festive spirit than by experiencing the timeless magic of “The Nutcracker.” The Alabama River Region Ballet proudly presents its highly anticipated production of this beloved classic at the Davis Theater in downtown Montgomery offering an unforgettable evening of dance, music, and wonder for audiences of all ages. Performances are Friday, December 6th at 7:00pm, Saturday December 7th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm, and Sunday December 8th at 2:00pm.
The Alabama River Region Ballet, founded by Priscilla Crommelin Ball in 2013, is a cornerstone of the local arts community, celebrated for its dedication to artistic excellence and community involvement. River Region Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” holds a special place in the hearts of local audiences, having been a cherished holiday tradition for over a decade. This year’s production is no exception, featuring a talented cast of dancers, including the beautiful Sarah Paterson as the Sugar Plum Fairy and talented guest artist Charley Austin as the Nutcracker Prince. Charley Austin is an exceptional dancer with Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse in Toulouse, France and he’s flying back to Montgomery to perform with the River Region Ballet again this year after making quite the impression for audiences last year. His spectacular jumps and turns could make any boy want to start ballet and any girl want to dance with him. Other principal roles include Clara danced by Mo Drescher and the Dew Drop Fairy danced by Maddie Jacobs and Emily Efferson. The talented River Region Ballet Youth Company will perform the playful divertissements from around the world. All of these performers bring Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score to life with grace and precision.
