GREEN BAY (WLUK) — It’s a great time of the year to visit the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
Curator Lori Bankson joined Good Day Wisconsin. She spoke about caring for the animals in the cold and how you can enjoy winter at the sanctuary.
She says with the cold snap, staff have been busy taking calls from people finding animals stranded out in the cold.
Bankson says wildlife has to keep moving to stay warm so if you see an animal not moving around and seems stuck or sick, give them a call.
You can also help wildlife during the winter by putting out high-calorie foods like sunflower seeds, thistle seed, corn and suet.
It’s also a good idea to have a heated water dish out for the animals because it’s easy for them to get dehydrated in the winter.
