Father, son killed after getting struck by car in Bala Cynwyd


LOWER MERION – Lower Merion police say a father and son were both killed after being struck by the car the father had just been driving.

According to police, the operator, identified by police as Nathan B. Kobrin, 94, of the 700 block of Wynnewood Road in Ardmore, pulled a Toyota Camry into a driveway on Pembree Terrace at 9:05 on Oct. 30.

As Kobrin exited the car, it began to roll backward down the driveway. Kobrin was then struck by the vehicle. The car continued rolling backward down the driveway onto Llandrillo Road, where it struck Kobrin’s son, Sydney Michael Kobrin, 68, of the 300 block of Pembree Terrace in Bala Cynwyd.

Both men suffered serious injuries and were transported to Lankenau Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Llandrillo Raod was closed between Belmont Avenue and Trevor Lane for about three hours.

The incident remains under investigation by Lower Merion’s Police Traffic Safety Unit.
