POWELLTON, WV (WVNS) – Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shannon Morris confirms to 59News that George Legg, who was known to not have a valid driver’s license, was spotted driving on Armstrong Creek Road around 10 o’clock on the night of Saturday, May 25, 2024.

When deputies tried to pull him over, Legg allegedly sped away from the deputies at 90 miles an hour.

According to the report, Legg almost crashed with several cars before eventually hitting a deputy’s cruiser.

After the crash, deputies were able to make the arrest safely, and Legg is now charged with the felony offense of Fleeing in a Vehicle With Reckless Indifference.

He was taken to Southern Regional Jail where he will await court proceedings.
