FCPS encouraged by increase in middle school arts participation after COVID dropoff

Frederick County Public Schools officials are hoping to see a continued rebound in arts participation among middle school students after a dip during the pandemic.

While virtual schooling affected students in all subject areas, it was particularly difficult to offer solid instruction in band, orchestra, visual or performing arts classes during COVID-19, said Scott Murphy, FCPS’ director of curriculum, instruction and innovation.
