The Disabled American Veterans Ozie Boler Chapter 21 of Vallejo proudly invites all Public High School Seniors in Vallejo to write and present a 500-word essay on what a Disabled American Veteran means to you and have a chance to win a $2000, $1000, or $500 cash prize. (Courtesy of Nestor Aliga)On Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., RTSC — www.RebuildingTogetherSolanoCounty.org — will distribute Disaster Safe at Home Kits/Backpacks to Veterans and Servicemembers at the Vacaville Veterans Building on 549 Merchant St. Each kit, valued at $175, includes: an First Aid Kit, Hand Crank Radio / LED Flashlight / Cell Phone Charger, a fire extinguisher, plug-in night lights, emergency blanket, glow sticks, emergency whistle, hand sanitizer, hand soap, face masks, a set of trash bags and disaster backpack with emergency information. On Feb. 11, March 11, and Apr. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, RTSC will also distribute kits at the Mare Island Veterans Affairs Clinic at 201 Walnut Ave, Vallejo.
