Final Moments Bring Jonnie Irwin Comfort, Appreciative for Wife’s Support During Cancer Battle

Jonnie Irwin thanked his wife Jessica Holmes for her continuous support during his illness battle and bestowed the blessing on her future love life.

A Place in the Sun Jonnie Irwin, a presenter, died at the age of 50 due to lung cancer; his wife Jessica Holmes announced the tragic news on Instagram.

Irwin, 50, gave his wife, Jessica, the blessing to seek love after his death.

The couple, who married in 2016, leaves behind three children: Rex, aged five, and twins Rafa and Cormac, aged three.

Despite Jonnie’s hopes that Jessica, 41, may find love again, she says it is the last thing on her mind right now.

Prior to Jonnie’s death, the TV star commended his wife for her unwavering support during his terrible condition.

Jess, who usually stays out of the spotlight, claimed at the time, ‘He couldn’t stop apologising. He continued saying’sorry’, and I kept telling him it wasn’t his fault.

When asked if she would contemplate finding love again, she replied, ‘I can think about the support I’ll need and so on, but when it comes to me, my life revolves around the boys.

That’s plenty for me. That is where my thinking stops. It scares me that I will be the only adult in a house with three young boys. The notion of being a single mother and widow is depressing.

Jess also revealed that she fell in love with Jonnie because she felt he would be an excellent father and expected him to be her life partner.

Jess took to Instagram to announce her husband’s death and praised Jonnie as ‘really extraordinary’.

Jonnie stated in November that his cancer had progressed to his brain since being diagnosed in 2020.
