Fire at Cary car dealership quickly brought under control, officials say


CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — A fire that broke out on the roof of a Cary car dealership on Thursday evening was quickly brought under control, according to the Cary Police Department.

At about 7:15 p.m., fire crews said they were called to Mackenan Drive in Cary in reference to a fire at the Dodge car dealership owned by Hendrick Auto Group.

When they arrived, they said there was a fire on the roof of the building.

According to an initial investigation, police said the dealership was having construction work done on the roof and the fire started while crews were welding.

Two of the construction workers were believed to have had some smoke inhalation, but refused treatment, according to the police department.

Investigators said the fire was out by 7:25 p.m.

They said the extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
